FAS (Free Alongside Ship)
An Incoterm® rule where the seller's risk and cost transfer to the buyer once the goods are placed alongside the vessel at the named port of shipment. Used only for sea and inland waterway transport.
Example
Bulk cargo like coal is often sold FAS: once it's placed alongside the vessel, loading cost and risk pass to the buyer.
